Reader Reviews

Hi Ladies,
I walked into work today, I work in a bookshop, and popped into the baby section to grab something to read when the shift got quiet and I saw a copy of the book right in front of me on the shelf. Read it all day today and purchased it at the end of my shift. Congratulations it looks beautiful very eye catching and reads well. I've read almost all of the books on the market (as part of my job of course:)) and I have to say I have learnt some new things, seen a bunch of sections not even touched upon in many other books and finally found a resource that will be as good for my partner as it will be for me.

Birth is a remarkable effort by two remarkable women and I for one will finally have a decent and definitely comprehensive childbirth book to recommend to the women I care for. I highly recommend it!

Hi Catherine and Sandra,
I got your book in the mail the other day. Just wanted to let you know that it's great! (Although I'm sure you knew that already!) "What to Expect..." has already been relegated back to the bookshelf! The book is really clear without being condescending. Have learnt heaps already. Good luck with it!
Dannielle

BIRTH all the way!!! Awesome book...Birth stayed beside my bed and each week i would read what i was up to... it answered any questions that i had... i cant rate it high enough.
Kylie

Birth is the best by far.

I bought the "Birth" book when I first found out I was pregnant in June and really loved it so much - that is actually how I found this website - I had been posting in an American website at the time - Which I have never been back to by the way. Well worth the money.

I have now read "Birth" from cover to cover and keep going back for references often, and I am only 12 weeks pg! I recommend it to everyone including my OB! Also, I noticed when in Adelaide city yesterday, that it has made the "best sellers" list in Borders bookstore (an international bookstore, no less!). Congratulations again Catherine and Sandra.

Dear Catherine and Sandra,
I just wanted to congratulate you on such a great book. I think the website is fabulous too, but it is much easier to read the book in bed! My DH and I are already avidly reading about what lies ahead for us, and I particularly like the sections about likely emotions.
Thanks!
Ange

I have "Birth", as well as two other books, and also borrowed "What to expect..." from a friend (so four books in all - overdoing it a little, huh?). In my opinion Birth is by far the best of all of them, and definitely worth a purchase.

Can't speak highly enough of "Birth" - it is the best by far! My other pregnancy books have not left the bookshelf since I bought "Birth". It is balanced, explains things clearly and well set out. My husband really appreciated the sections in "Birth" that speak to the support person for the labouring woman. Get it, you won't regret it!
Dannielle

Definitely get the Birth book. I've had What to Expect, and another US pregnancy book but they don't measure up to the Birth book. Even my husband was reading through how to be a support and the stages of labour.
Janet

I have had 'Birth' since I fell pregnant, and love it, it is my bible! And I am not just saying that because Catherine and Sandra wrote it! It's so informative, and very well written. It also has a great section on preparing yourself for pregnancy. Well worth the purchase.
Angiebaby

I can only second what the others have said. The Birth book comes EVERYWHERE with me! I love it. I had it when TTC also and found the information very good. Get it, it is worth its weight in gold.
Shell

I totally agree with the others. What to Expect seems to be written purely to frighten women, instead of treating the whole experience as natural and normal. Birth is fantastic.

Hi Catherine and Sandra
I received my copy of Birth yesterday in the mail. I've already read the first couple of chapters and am finding it enthralling! Congratulations on a job well done. Robin Barker said in her foreword that "Birth" has the potential to be a bestseller and I completely agree. It has absolutely everything for everyone. I will certainly be recommending it to everyone I can!

I just wanted to let you know I got my book yesterday and to tell you what a fantastic job you and Sandra have done. I went to the Caesarean section first (I had an emergency one) and it was great reading about the actual operation as none of my other books went into as much detail. The whole chapter is fantastic, especially the emotional side and the info on VBAC. I have now gone back to the start and am reading my way through. Congratulations on a really great book.

I too got my copy of the book yesterday and was reading it all night! I love the format, very easy to find stuff and follow topics. Its very up to date and encompasses a broad range of ideas and decisions. I've recommended it to all my non-pregnant friends already for the future. Thanks :)
Jasmine

Hi Catherine and Sandra,
Just wanted how impressed I am with your "Birth" book. I picked it up last night, and have learnt so much already. Brett (my husband) is really enjoying it as well. Congratulations on a fantastic job!
Susan

Hi Cate and Sandra
I bought your book on Saturday and wanted to congratulate you both. Well done. It also emphasised for me that my own classes that I teach at Leichhardt are on the right track. It is a very simple and easy to read resource and evidence based which is great. I will certainly recommend it to my clients. Well done. Keep up the good work

My copy of the BIRTH book is my bible and have made notes on the pages during each of my pregnancies - it is a great resource and so is this website.
